Google Chrome Released
Earlier today Google released (in beta) a new browser called Google Chrome. It is currently available for Windows Vista and XP. Google describes it “as a browser that combines a minimal design with sophisticated technology to make the web faster, safer, and easier.” The bloggosphere has been buzzing with the news, and quite a few blogs have posted reviews and first impressions:
Web Worker Daily asks whether Chrome is Ready for web workers?
Web Monkey gives you a screenshot tour.
gHacks does a mini review.
Wired takes you inside Chrome and Google’s secret project to crush IE and remake the web.
Lifehacker takes a first look at Chrome.
Read Write Web has a screencast of their experiences with Chrome.
The news of Google Chrome’s release even made the front page of the websites of L.A. Times and Boston Globe.
So what is the verdict? Does Google Chrome deliver? I think it is too early to tell, but it is a browser that is worth keeping an eye out for. For now, I will stick with my trusted Firefox.
