Google Stops Active Development of Google Notebook

16 January, 2009 (9:48 pm) | Web

Google has announced that they will stop active development of Google Notebook. We have long been fans of Google Notebook, and we are sad to see it go. According to Google, the Notebook website will still be available, but they won’t be adding features or signing up new users. This also means that their browser extensions for Google Notebook won’t be maintained, so we can expect them to stop working next time we upgrade our browsers.

Google mentions four other tools that can be used instead: SearchWiki, Google Docs, Tasks in Gmail, and Google Bookmarks. But they are just not as convenient to use a Notebook was.

Luckily, there are other tools out there ready to replace Google Notebook. CNET News lists seven worthy Google Notebook replacements. One of them, UberNote, even lets you import notebooks from Google Notebook.
